Franks Ranch is located in Flynn Texas, approximately 50 miles North East of Bryan/College Station Texas, home of Texas A&M University. We are a small, family operated ranch that raises American Milking Devon cattle. We are also commercial beekeepers.
First brought to the American continent in 1623, the American Milking Devon is one of the rarest, and oldest, breeds in the United States. Not to be confused with the beef Devon, or South Devon, the American Milking Devon is still to this day, a multipurpose breed. In the early years, the primary purpose of this breed was for use as oxen. The American Milking Devon is known for its speed, intelligence, strength, and willingness to work. Their acute awareness makes them highly trainable, and if done properly, the steers and cows, can both make fine working, or riding animals. The American Milking Devon cow is capable of excellent milk production, and can have a butter fat content equal to that of a Jersey. The cream and milk are excellent for making homemade butter, cheese, and other products. American Milking Devon beef is well marbled, tender, and very tasty. The ability of this breed to adapt to a wide variety of climates, and thrive on a 100% grass diet, are perhaps two of their most valuable qualities. The American Milking Devon is tailor made for sustainable farming practices.

We maintain approximately 2000-2500 hives of bees, and sell spring nucleus colonies, queen cells, mated queens, singles, and honey.
The ranch is not open to the public. Please call, text, or leave a voice message if you fail to reach us. We are often times very busy around the ranch, so it may be a bit before we can call you back.
